Rainy Sunday Afternoon

I love rainy days. We seem to have so few days where we are socked-in with clouds and rain. Some find this weather depressing, but it's like a warm blanket covering me, forcing me to stay inside and focus on more important matters - family, household chores, and sometimes, joyfully, just sitting.

We forget how to just "be" in this life. To be quiet. To be attentive. To be thoughtful.

My children hate to Be "bored". I hate that word! Just ask them! I recently read research that said boredom is the #1 ingredient needed for creativity. So now if my children say they are bored, I respond with a hearty, "Great! Now you have a chance to be creative! To Dream! To make up stories!"

I want to learn to Be. To Be attentive to my children when they call. To Be obedient to my Lord when He calls. To Be compassionate with my husband calls.

Just to BE.

  1. I love rainy days myself. Probably because they don't happen all the time in CO. They feel very cozy to me and a great excuse to snuggle on the couch and read or watch a movie. Love them! And great blog. Looking forward to following along!
