Home School Field Trip

Animas Forks Field Trip

The first field trip of the year!  We could not have ordered a more beautiful fall day!  The trees above Silverton are beginning to color - the aspens were bright yellow, with gold speckled on the hillside.

First stop - Silverton's Visitors Center (bathrooms, of course!)

Welcome to Animas Forks!
Located 12 miles above Silverton, the road takes 45 minutes to travel.

These old buildings have been made structurally sound so that visitors can see inside the cabins of early miners.

Now, that's a gorgeous view from your window.

Here we are!  The Lee's, Palmer's, Beach's, and Quisenberry's.
And Grandfriend Marilyn, too.

Miss Somer Joy's first fieldtrip.

Uh, Jack - watch that hole!
(okay, we staged the picture!)

This cabin featured an indoor toilet!

We played the Thankful Game while walking through the buildings.
Heat, toilets, bedrooms - just to name a few.
